Gives You the Power of Rush Limbaugh and Britney Spears
By Robert Skrob | February 3, 2009
What Do Britney Spears and Rush Limbaugh Have in Common?
Britney Spears is the most common search term input into Google.com. Even after her disastrous custody battle she released an album that outsold everyone else in the industry. She is a singer, who has become a celebrity.
Rush Limbaugh criticizes Barack Obama because that’s his job as the host of a conservative radio show. Rush becomes news with his comments and image on television and in newspapers around the country. Anyone else could criticize Obama, and he or she would be dismissed. Rush Limbaugh makes news because he is a celebrity.
Too many people limit their idea of “celebrity” to big name stars. There are also celebrities within industries. As I work within many industries I’ve seen several. They start out unknown, like everyone else. They just go about doing what everyone else does. Then, they do something different. Soon everyone in the industry knows their name and starts talking about them. This opens the door to sponsorships and business opportunities just because they are a known face in the industry.
There is a system to becoming a celebrity. The producers within the music and television industry know it well and use it with their clients. Attendance at the right parties, getting photographed with the right people and getting publicity in the right magazines. It’s a template they use with their clients to make them known. That way, when they release an album, fans know to go buy it. Or, when they are on a new television show, viewers tune-in to watch.
On Wednesday, February 11th I’m going to be talking to one of those special show business insiders, and you can participate.
What does becoming a celebrity have to do with you? Good question. Imagine getting better results from everything you do. Every marketing effort you create generates more response because your customers already know and trust you. When you contact a potential joint venture partner, they race to take your call because they know your name. Vendors give you the best deals to earn your business so they can use your name as proof that they are the best in their industry.
Far fetched? Not really. I’m sure you know certain business people within your community that have separated themselves, their television shows or their networking has made them a known person in homes throughout your community. Or, within your industry, certain people seem to get all the attention even though you know what they sell isn’t as good as yours. That’s celebrity, and on February 11th I’ll show you how to generate it for yourself.
