Leverage: Work Once, Get Extra Money for Years
By Robert Skrob | April 23, 2008
In a consulting business, people pay you for your services. To double the amount of income, you have to double your fees or double the amount of services you provide. When you’ve maxed out your fees, your only choice is to work more hours or to hire employees to work those hours. Either way, you increase your headaches.
For many years, I had watched the world of information marketers. There were people who created an audio program with six audio CD’s and a manual. They could create that program once and sell it many times for years. All they had to do was advertise their product, and new orders came in.
What’s better, they could set up systems, so products got shipped by a vendor. They could be making sales, with money deposited directly into their checking accounts, and they could be anywhere in the world, on vacation. This was something I had to investigate.
To talk about this and more, Dan Janel, one of the founding fathers of Internet marketing and publicity interviewed me for his customers. . He was on the publicity team that brought AOL public more than 25 years ago and worked closely with AOL president Steve Case. Dan current heads www.PRLEADS.com a publicity service he created to help experts get the visibility they need to help build their credibility in order to sell more books, products and services. PR LEADS has helped more than 2,500 authors and experts get publicity in top tier newspapers and magazines. Dan wrote one of the first books about marketing on the Internet back in 1995. His six books published by John Wiley & Sons have been translated into six languages. He has also produced more than 75 audio books and e-books on cutting-edge topics. As a professional speaker, he has spoken everywhere from Beijing to Budapest and has taught at Berkeley and Stanford.
During this interview we discussed the information marketing business, steps to create a business and some common mistakes beginning info-marketers make. I hope you enjoy the program.
